Subscription terms
Effective October 4, 2026.
Plain-language summary: Chattium costs $49 per year per computer. Access requires a current trial or paid term. Your account’s one shared trial lasts 72 hours from first successful eligible activation. No card is required by default; automatic annual billing requires explicit hosted checkout authorization. Complimentary beta licenses expressly issued by Chattium are perpetual.
1. One computer per license
A subscription grants a limited, non-exclusive license to use Chattium on one activated computer that you own or control. Each additional computer needs a separate $49/year license. Multiple people may not share or publish a license key. Third-party accounts and subscriptions remain separate.
2. Shared trial and annual billing
One verified-email account gets one eligible 72-hour trial. The first successful eligible computer activation starts it. Registration, download and license creation do not. Every additional computer gets only the remaining time. Transfers, reinstalling, additional licenses and canceled enrollments do not reset it.
No card is required by default. Account cohorts may instead receive a card-required offer; the assigned offer remains fixed. Card-required activation opens hosted subscription checkout and requires explicit authorization for $49 USD when the shared trial ends, then $49 USD annually until canceled, plus applicable tax. For a no-card trial, access expires without a charge unless you explicitly subscribe.
Each paid computer has a separate subscription with its own consent. A saved card is not permission to charge for another computer. A subscription started during an active trial uses only the remaining trial time. After the shared trial has expired, payment is due immediately. Taxes and any supported local-currency amount are disclosed in hosted checkout. Cancel renewal through your account before the next charge. Cancellation does not waive an already issued invoice or automatically refund a payment.
3. Expiration and cancellation
Canceling prevents future billing. Access continues through the current authorized trial or paid period, then stops unless payment for a further term is confirmed. Services, mail, AI tools, and terminals are unavailable after expiry. Your local profile is preserved; renewal, support, and encrypted profile export remain available. Renewing restores access after the computer contacts Chattium’s licensing server.
4. Activation and offline authorization
Enter your license key and verify the purchaser email to bind the license to one computer. Initial activation and renewal confirmation at expiry require an internet connection. Between those dates, Chattium validates a signed computer authorization locally without routine online licensing checks. Correct system time is required. Unusual backward clock changes may require online recovery. Service providers may still require internet access.
5. Moving a license
Release the old computer from within Chattium while online, then activate another computer using the same key and purchaser email. The existing trial or paid end date is preserved. Self-service transfers are limited to once every 30 days. Releasing a computer does not cancel subscription billing. If the old computer is lost, broken, or inaccessible, contact support for a reset or cooldown exception. You may not retain or use a copy of an old activation after release.
6. Complimentary beta licenses
Named beta testers may receive an explicit free perpetual license for one computer, including future Chattium updates. These licenses require no subscription or renewal. They use the same email verification and transfer rules. Additional beta computers require a separate license issued by Chattium. This exception does not apply to paid subscriptions.
7. Key protection and enforcement
Keep keys and verification codes private. Chattium may deny activation or renewal for fraud, unauthorized sharing, or revoked licenses. Because authorizations can operate offline, server revocation cannot immediately disable an already issued offline authorization. A perpetual beta authorization has no automatic expiry. The user’s obligation to stop using a released or revoked authorization applies regardless of that technical limitation.
8. Third-party services and restrictions
Independent providers govern their accounts, content, availability, and terms. Chattium does not guarantee compatibility with every provider change. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, or circumvent the license, remove ownership notices, or use Chattium unlawfully. Applicable statutory rights remain in force.
9. Warranty and contact
To the extent allowed by law, Chattium is provided as is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted service. Liability is limited to fees paid during the preceding twelve months, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Material changes apply prospectively.
